I boxed competitively when I lived in Boston, but when I moved to Portland I couldn’t afford any of the gyms. Naively I thought rock climbing would be another good “poor man’s sport”, but I was hooked by the time I found out otherwise. I got a job as a janitor at a local gym for a free membership, and 5 years later I set in that same gym and couldn’t be happier.
