Sean McColl is an avid 30-year-old sport climber who has been competing for the past 20 years. Although he travels consistently to Eastern Canada, Europe, and Asia following the competition circuit, Sean’s home is in North Vancouver. Sean’sSean’s goal is to qualify and compete at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
As an athlete, Sean’sSean’s accomplishments in this sport are numerous, unprecedented, and unrepeated for a climber from Canada. Since European and Asian climbers have dominated the sport.
Sean was the Canadian Youth Champion in his age group every year from 1999-2005, winning every National Championships he attended. During his youth career, Sean claimed five world titles. Three in difficulty and two in speed. Since no other youth competitor has won more titles, this achievement is unsurpassed in youth climbing history even to this day. As an open competitor, Sean has won 33 world cup medals, of which 5 were gold, 14 were silver, and 14 were bronze.
On top of that, Sean has been an Open Combined World Champion another four times. Overall is the decided format for the 2020 Olympic Games. This makes Sean an Olympic Podium Hopeful, identified by Sport Canada, Own the Podium, and the Canadian Olympic Committee.
