I was introduced to the sport from a young age by my uncle, who was a Yosemite big wall climber throughout the 80s and 90s. however, I never took it seriously. it was fun but just something to do a few times a year on the weekends. Then, over the summer between 7th and 8th grade, I participated in a climbing camp at my local gym and found a new love for the sport. I joined the team at the gym immediately after and haven’t lost the passion since.
The climbing community is built on a culture of support and genuinely creating good times together. I have participated in so many sports throughout the years and NEVER have found a space so wonderfully accepting and supportive. We as climbers are stewards for our natural environment as well, creating a real community vs just a sport collective.
